Start time will be 10am this Sunday. We will begin pickup of controls around 1:30-2pm. The design of the long turned out to not have butterflies. It is roughly 5.8K and 12 controls, medium is a subset of the long and is 3.6K, 9 controls(shorter, but advanced level). The short is 2.1K and a bit harder than usual, but certainly doable for beginners.
For those who don’t know, you may start whenever you like. However, if you start later there is a chance that you won’t finish before we start picking up the controls.
Latest forecast is looking like mid to high 30’s. I’m looking forward to setting up the courses, since the forest is so wonderful. I’m pretty happy with the course design, too. It should keep you on your toes. :)
Our final event of the year will be Sunday December 4th at Greenbush. The course will be mainly on the Cat’s Meow map, so don’t expect to see many trails.
The long course will be about 6K and the medium will be about 3K. Both courses will be advanced level. The short/beginner course will be mostly on trails and about 1K.
Cost is $15/long, $10/medium and $7/short with kids under 8 free.
Directions: We’ll start from the ski shelter at the Greenbush Group Campground parking lot. Google it for directions. From Greenbush, WI it is south on T to Kettle Moraine Scenic Dr.(where the road forks stay left) and then it’s about a mile on Kettle Moraine Drive to the parking lot. A state park sticker is required.
This event will be the state championship, since we haven’t done that yet. I will not be participating this year, so we will be crowning a new champion. Our only rule for being eligible is that you live in Wisconsin.
At the moment, 11 days out, the forecast looks to be dry and in the 30’s. But really it doesn’t matter. It’s going to be beautiful out there no matter what. It always is. : )
